Emirates NBD and DFDF Partner to Accelerate FinTech and AI Innovation

Emirates NBD has partnered with the Dubai Future District Fund (DFDF) to accelerate innovation in FinTech and artificial intelligence across financial services. The collaboration will focus on identifying, piloting, and adopting technology-driven solutions designed to improve efficiency, security, and the customer experience.

The partnership also gives Emirates NBD access to a pipeline of enterprise-grade FinTech and AI solutions from DFDF’s portfolio companies. Meanwhile, startups will gain opportunities to test technologies within the banking group’s ecosystem and potentially progress towards commercial deployment.

Emirates NBD Targets AI, Digital Assets and WealthTech

The collaboration comes as FinTech becomes an increasingly important part of the UAE’s financial economy. The market is projected to grow from $3.16 billion in 2024 to $5.71 billion by 2029.

Against that backdrop, Emirates NBD will focus on technologies aligned with its digital transformation strategy. These areas include AI-driven banking, embedded finance, digital assets, SME solutions, WealthTech, compliance technology and next-generation banking infrastructure.

The bank said the partnership will support structured pilots and strategic relationships with high-growth startups. Consequently, successful technologies could move from testing into broader commercial applications.

Marwan Hadi, Group Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management at Emirates NBD, said: “Emirates NBD is delighted to be part of this innovative partnership with another national entity focused on transforming Dubai into a nexus for business and an integrated environment for investment. By partnering with DFDF, we anticipate delivering more personalised and intelligent banking experiences, faster deployment of digital banking capabilities, improved fraud detection and financial security, enhanced SME and business banking solutions and seamless onboarding services.”

He added: “Emirates NBD’s association also reinforces the bank’s long-term commitment to national talent development and advancing the UAE’s innovation agenda through the National Digital Talent Incubator (NDTI).”

DFDF Opens Startup Pathways Into Banking

DFDF is Dubai’s AED 1 billion evergreen venture capital fund of funds. It is anchored by the Dubai International Financial Centre and Dubai Future Foundation, with a mandate to support startups shaping the future economy.

For DFDF-backed companies, the Emirates NBD partnership provides a direct route into a major financial services ecosystem. Therefore, the arrangement could help startups validate products in real operating environments while giving the bank earlier access to emerging technologies.

Nader Albastaki, Managing Director at DFDF, said: “We are excited to partner with Emirates NBD, a progressive leader in the financial sector. This collaboration is a testament to our shared vision for a future where innovation drives progress and enhances the daily lives of individuals and businesses. It provides our high-potential startups with an unparalleled opportunity to explore pilot opportunities, strategic partnerships and commercial deployment within Emirates NBD’s extensive ecosystem, ultimately contributing to Dubai’s ambition of becoming a global hub for digital finance and entrepreneurship.”

The partnership also connects with Emirates NBD’s National Digital Talent Incubator. The initiative supports Emirati entrepreneurs developing technology-led ventures across financial services, AI and digital commerce.

Recently, the bank hosted the NDTI Founders Summit 2026, bringing together emerging Emirati fintech and digital entrepreneurs.

Overall, the agreement positions startup collaboration as a practical component of Emirates NBD’s technology strategy. It also strengthens Dubai’s broader push to connect venture capital, banking infrastructure, and emerging financial technologies into a single innovation ecosystem.
