Dubai Customs Extends Duty Suspension Deadline to 180 Days
Dubai Customs has extended the customs duty suspension period by an additional 60 days for qualifying imports, re-exports, and transit shipments.
The temporary measure extends the total suspension period to 180 days and applies to specified customs duty statuses that expire after February 27, 2026, and up to October 31, 2026.
Dubai Customs said the move is designed to reduce financial and administrative pressures on businesses while supporting supply-chain continuity and the smooth flow of trade.
Dubai Customs Duty Extension
Customs Notice No. 17/2026 covers three categories of suspended customs duty status: imports intended for re-export, temporary admission and transit in all its forms.
Under the notice, eligible customs declarations receive an additional 60-day suspension period. Importantly, the extension begins on the expiry date of the original suspension rather than on the date the new notice was issued.
The measure follows Customs Notice No. 12/2026, issued on June 18, which also addressed temporary extensions for suspended duty cases.
Extension Could Continue
Dubai Customs has left open the possibility of extending the measure again, subject to its approved controls and procedures.
Any further extension may remain in effect until another customs notice is issued to suspend or terminate it.
Customs Notice No. 17/2026 took effect on September 23, 2026, and applies temporarily to customs declarations falling within its scope. The notice was issued by Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs.
