L&T secures $544m Dubai corridor contracts to cut travel times
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has formally executed twin contracts for the development of Dubai’s $544m (AED 2bn) Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor, a major road infrastructure project aimed at reducing congestion and improving connectivity across key parts of the emirate.
The project is expected to cut the average journey between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road from around 33 minutes to 15 minutes when completed in 2028.
The first contract covers a new road linking Al Khail Road with the extension of Latifa Bint Hamdan Street, alongside seven bridges spanning 2.3km, eight tunnels covering 900 metres and associated road works. The infrastructure will strengthen links between Al Khail Road, Latifa Bint Hamdan Street and Al Meydan Street while improving access to nearby development areas.
The second contract covers sections of Al Meydan Street, including a new interchange and at-grade roads designed to support development projects and improve traffic flows.
The wider scope also includes a cycling track connecting with Dubai’s existing cycling network, contributing to an integrated route between Al Qudra and Jumeirah.
