McLaren P34 Hybrid Supercar Reportedly Targets 810 HP

McLaren is reportedly preparing for a major shift, moving beyond its performance-focused identity toward a broader luxury-lifestyle positioning. During a confidential briefing with its retail network, the British automaker outlined a future product roadmap and plans to redesign its dealerships.

The current Apple-store-inspired showroom style could give way to interiors influenced by luxury fashion houses such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Burberry. The change reflects McLaren’s intention to compete through a more premium lifestyle experience, rather than focusing solely on track performance.

P34 Hybrid Supercar Targets 810 HP

The first major product in this new direction is a mid-engined supercar known internally as the P34. Expected next summer, it will reportedly use a hybridized twin-turbocharged V6 similar to the system found in the Artura.

The powertrain is expected to produce approximately 810 hp and 800 lb-ft of torque. Positioned between the Artura and 750S, the P34 could start at around $310,000, undercutting the 750S.

The supercar is also expected to feature a longer exterior design, upgraded leather seats and additional LED screens. McLaren reportedly plans to produce approximately 1,000 units during its first year.

SUV and Grand Tourer Planned

McLaren’s longer-term roadmap reportedly includes a front-engined, sedan-like grand tourer and a long-rumored SUV. Both models are expected to arrive after the P34.

These additions would move McLaren into more practical vehicle segments, potentially supporting the brand’s long-term profitability. In 2024, former McLaren executive Michael Leiters described an SUV or grand tourer as important to the company’s future financial performance.

McLaren has not confirmed the reported plans. A spokesperson declined to comment, stating that the brand does not comment on speculation.
