UAE-India Airfares Drop by Up to 30% as July Travel Demand Slows
UAE residents planning a trip to India this month can take advantage of significantly lower airfares, with return ticket prices on several routes falling by 20% to 30% compared with recent weeks. The biggest savings are available on flights to cities in north and west India, while fares to southern destinations remain comparatively higher.
However, travel experts expect the lower prices to last only for a limited period. As demand begins to recover ahead of the new school term, ticket prices are likely to increase for August departures.
North and West India Offer the Best Flight Deals
Travel agents report that airfare reductions vary by departure airport and destination. Flights from Abu Dhabi are currently more affordable than those departing from Dubai on several routes.
“We have seen prices come down by around 20 per cent, although it depends on the departure airport. Flights from Abu Dhabi are generally cheaper than Dubai at the moment. We are also seeing lower fares to cities such as Hyderabad and Chennai this month,” said Taha Siddique, owner of Siddique Travel in Mangaluru.
Meanwhile, routes to major cities in north and west India continue to offer the strongest value.
“We are seeing lower fares to cities like Delhi and Ahmedabad. Even Mumbai and Pune are much cheaper than many south Indian destinations such as Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. For a 7 to 10 day trip in July, return tickets can start from around Dh1,080,” said Subair Thekepurathvalappil, manager at Wisefox Travel and Tourism.
Current return fares for late July include:
- Ahmedabad: From Dh1,029
- New Delhi: From Dh1,041
- Mumbai: From Dh1,074
- Pune: From Dh1,114
- Bengaluru: From Dh1,389
- Kozhikode: From Dh1,578
- Mangaluru: From Dh1,928
August Prices Expected to Rise
Although fares have eased noticeably since mid-June, destinations in Kerala and coastal Karnataka continue to command higher prices than many cities in northern and western India.
Travel industry experts attribute the recent decline to a temporary slowdown following the peak summer travel season. Consequently, airlines have adjusted prices to stimulate demand during July.
Travellers planning to visit India in August should consider booking soon. According to travel agents, demand is expected to increase as families finalize holiday plans before schools reopen. As a result, airfare prices are likely to climb again over the coming weeks, reducing the savings currently available on several popular UAE-India routes.
