United Airlines Suspends Dubai Flights Until March

The UAE aviation sector has been hit by the news that United Airlines will not resume its Dubai services until next year.

The US carrier, one of the world’s largest international airlines, operates a network spanning 370 destinations worldwide.

However, its nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Dubai International Airport (DXB) is now not expected to resume until March 2027.

United Airlines suspended its Newark-Dubai service when the war between the US and Iran began in February.

The airline has continued to monitor developments across the Middle East, raising expectations that its Dubai operations could return before the end of 2026.

Those expectations were ended after United Airlines confirmed that flights between Newark Liberty International Airport and Dubai International Airport will resume in March 2027.

The airline said customers directly affected by cancellations of flights originally scheduled between October 24, 2026, and March 27, 2027, will be eligible for full refunds.

United Airlines Highlights Emirates Partnership

In its customer notice, United Airlines encouraged passengers to make use of its partnership with Emirates Airline.

United Airlines and Emirates have been commercial partners since September 2022, linking their networks and providing customers with expanded travel options.

Emirates operates flights to six of United Airlines’ key US hubs, including Chicago, San Francisco and Houston.

The partnership enables smoother connections across North America, Africa, Asia, Australasia and the GCC region.

United Airlines’ decision makes it the latest international carrier to confirm that its Dubai route will not return until 2027.

European airline Luxair has also postponed the launch of its Dubai service until next year, with the carrier hoping the US-Iran conflict will have ended by then.

Air Canada has indicated that it plans to resume services in January next year, while UK-based Virgin Atlantic is targeting a return for the 2027 winter season.

Other major international carriers, including KLM, Air France and British Airways, remain absent from routes across the Middle East.
