LeBron James Maybach S 680 Debuts at Pebble Beach

Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled two highly personalised S 680 models created with NBA star LeBron James, combining Maybach craftsmanship with details drawn from his personal identity and roots in Akron, Ohio.

Presented at Pebble Beach, the collaboration features one vehicle for James’ personal collection and a second near-identical model that will be auctioned later this year. Proceeds from the charity car will support the LeBron James Family Foundation and its I PROMISE initiatives for students and families in Akron.

A Maybach S 680 Designed Around LeBron James

The two cars were developed through Mercedes-Maybach’s MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure programme, which allows customers to commission highly individualised vehicles beyond the brand’s standard configurations.

Both S 680 models wear a MANUFAKTUR Light Ivory non-metallic exterior, creating a restrained contrast with the personalised details inside. The cabins feature Stormy Weather Nappa leather, porcelain-coloured contrast stitching and bespoke elements throughout the passenger compartment.

One of the most distinctive changes appears on the exterior. Instead of the traditional V12 badge, Mercedes-Maybach has fitted a bespoke emblem incorporating James’ signature crown logo, marking a notable departure from the standard S 680 design.

Inside, the personalisation continues across the cabin. Custom cushions, floor mats and headrests carry James’ signature branding, while additional details reference his connection to Akron.

Each vehicle also features discreet engravings and a bespoke badge displaying the geographical coordinates of Akron, Ohio. Consequently, the two cars function not only as luxury commissions but also as physical expressions of James’ personal and community ties.

From Luxury Commission to Philanthropic Auction

The second Mercedes-Maybach S 680 will eventually move from the Pebble Beach showcase to a charity auction later in 2026. Mercedes-Maybach and James have structured the twin builds so that the auction car closely mirrors the vehicle created for his personal collection.

Importantly, all proceeds from the auction will benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation. The foundation’s I PROMISE initiatives support students and families in Akron, James’ hometown.

The collaboration, therefore, connects three distinct elements: Maybach’s bespoke vehicle programme, James’ global cultural profile and his long-standing philanthropic work in his home community.

For Mercedes-Maybach, the project also demonstrates how its highest level of personalisation can extend beyond conventional luxury specifications. Instead, design details can incorporate an owner’s symbols, history and personal affiliations into the vehicle itself.

The two S 680 models ultimately represent a more personal interpretation of Maybach luxury. While one will remain part of James’ collection, the other will transform the same bespoke craftsmanship into a fundraising vehicle, linking automotive exclusivity with a direct contribution to education and community initiatives in Akron.
