Audi Q9 and SQ9 Debut as New Flagship Luxury SUVs

Audi has officially introduced the all-new Q9 and SQ9, marking the brand’s entry into the full-size three-row luxury SUV segment. Developed primarily for the U.S. market, the flagship models combine premium comfort, advanced technology, and powerful performance while becoming the largest SUVs Audi has ever produced.

Built on a platform measuring 208.9 inches in length with a 123.5-inch wheelbase, the Q9 lineup offers generous interior space for up to seven occupants. The exterior adopts a refined design language featuring a raised shoulder line, a bold front fascia, and a clean window profile that emphasizes understated luxury rather than aggressive styling.

Powerful Engines and Advanced Lighting Technology

The performance-focused SQ9 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission and a rear-biased quattro all-wheel-drive system with an electronically controlled locking differential, the flagship SUV accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. It also rides on staggered 23-inch performance wheels designed to maximize grip and handling.

Meanwhile, the Q9 features a 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 delivering 429 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, offering a balance of performance and everyday usability.

Audi has also introduced several lighting innovations across the new lineup. Most notably, the Q9 and SQ9 become the first Audi models in the United States to feature Digital Matrix LED headlights. The system uses micro-LED technology to selectively dim portions of the high beam, improving nighttime visibility while reducing glare for oncoming drivers.

At the rear, third-generation curved digital OLED taillights make their production debut, offering customizable light signatures visible from wider angles. Additionally, the SUVs feature projection-based turn signals that display directional indicators onto the pavement, improving visibility for nearby motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Luxury Cabin Designed for Families and Long-Distance Comfort

Inside, the Q9 platform prioritizes space and comfort with seating for up to seven passengers. Buyers can also choose second-row captain’s chairs equipped with removable armrests, creating a more premium travel experience while maintaining convenient access to the third row.

The new flagship SUVs reflect Audi’s latest approach to luxury, combining spacious interiors with advanced driver assistance systems and high-performance powertrains. As demand for large premium SUVs continues to grow, the Q9 and SQ9 position the brand to compete directly with established rivals in the segment.

Audi has opened order books for both models, with customer deliveries in the United States scheduled to begin during the fourth quarter of 2026.
