DeepSeek V4-Flash Targets Businesses With Ultra-Low AI Costs

Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has introduced its latest flagship model, V4-Flash, positioning it as one of the most cost-effective large language models on the market. According to benchmark analysis from AI research firm Artificial Analysis, the new model delivers the lowest operating cost among major commercially available AI systems while remaining competitive across coding, reasoning, and workplace tasks.

The launch marks another strategic move by DeepSeek to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive global AI market. The company is also reportedly preparing for a potential initial public offering (IPO).

Benchmark Shows Significant Cost Advantage

Artificial Analysis found that DeepSeek V4-Flash costs approximately $0.03 per benchmark test, making it substantially cheaper to operate than several leading AI models. By comparison, the firm’s analysis estimated average benchmark costs of $0.86 for Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3, $1.86 for OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol, and $3.15 for Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5.

The model is priced at $0.14 per million input tokens and $0.28 per million output tokens, reinforcing DeepSeek’s long-standing strategy of offering affordable AI solutions for developers and enterprise customers. Benchmark-based cost comparisons provide a broader measure of efficiency because they account for both pricing and the computational work required to complete real-world tasks.

On Artificial Analysis’ Intelligence Index, which evaluates models across nine benchmarks covering coding, reasoning, and workplace productivity, V4-Flash achieved a score of 50 out of 100. The result matches Google’s Gemini 3.6 Flash while trailing Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3 and several premium frontier models.

Competition Intensifies Across the Global AI Market

DeepSeek first attracted worldwide attention with the release of its R1 model in early 2025, challenging assumptions about the cost of building and operating advanced artificial intelligence systems. Since then, competition within China’s AI industry has accelerated as startups, including Moonshot AI, MiniMax, and Z.AI, alongside technology giants such as Alibaba and ByteDance, continue to introduce increasingly capable models.

The company is already preparing a more advanced successor known as V4-Pro, although an official release date has not yet been announced.

Meanwhile, Alibaba has expanded the competitive landscape by unveiling Qwen3.8-Max, its largest and most capable AI model to date. As developers and enterprises increasingly prioritize performance alongside operating costs, pricing efficiency has become a key differentiator in the race to achieve broader global AI adoption.
