Apple is expected to expand its iPhone range with several new models between late 2026 and early 2027, potentially introducing the company’s first foldable iPhone with the iPhone 18 lineup.
Reports indicate that Apple could adopt a different release strategy for its next-generation smartphones. Instead of launching the entire range at once, the company may split premium and more affordable models into two release periods.
The expected lineup could include the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Air 2, and a foldable iPhone Ultra. However, Apple has not confirmed the specifications, pricing, or release schedule of these devices.
Foldable iPhone Ultra could headline Apple’s next generation
The rumored foldable iPhone Ultra could become the most significant addition to Apple’s smartphone range in years. Unlike conventional iPhone models, the device is expected to use a flexible display that opens into a larger screen.
Reports suggest the foldable iPhone could feature a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch internal screen. When unfolded, the larger panel could provide a tablet-like viewing experience, while its reported 4:3 aspect ratio would differentiate it from conventional smartphone displays.
The device is also expected to use a dual-camera system and a relatively slim design. However, fitting Apple’s Face ID hardware into a thinner foldable chassis could prove challenging.
As a result, Apple may reportedly consider Touch ID for biometric authentication instead.
Furthermore, the foldable model is expected to feature advanced OLED display technology alongside a titanium-and-aluminium frame. A liquid-metal hinge and vapor-chamber cooling system have also been mentioned in reports, although these specifications remain unconfirmed.

The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to retain a broadly familiar design while receiving significant hardware improvements.
