Rare Porsche Carrera GT in Rosso Fuoco Heads to Auction
A highly distinctive 2005 Porsche Carrera GT is set to cross the auction block after receiving an extensive concours-quality restoration and a dramatic custom finish inspired by Ferrari. Originally delivered in GT Silver, the supercar now wears a striking Rosso Fuoco metallic paint, creating one of the most unique examples of Porsche’s legendary V10-powered flagship.
The Carrera GT is one of just 644 examples originally delivered to the United States. During its transformation, specialists stripped the car to its carbon-fiber monocoque before applying a modern triple-layer Rosso Fuoco finish, giving the iconic supercar a bold new identity while preserving its engineering heritage.
Bespoke Restoration Blends Porsche Engineering With Italian Style
The custom project was commissioned by Ferrari collector Milton Verret, who envisioned combining Ferrari’s signature Rosso Fuoco paint with the unmistakable design of the Carrera GT. The result highlights the car’s sculpted bodywork without compromising its original character.
Beyond the exterior, the cabin remains largely factory original. Premium black leather upholstery, the signature carbon-fiber shift knob, and the driver-focused interior have all been carefully preserved. Additionally, the original hydraulic rear spoiler actuators have been upgraded with a modern electrical system to improve long-term reliability while maintaining the vehicle’s authentic appearance.
Iconic V10 Performance Meets Collector Appeal
Power continues to come from Porsche’s naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V10 engine, an engine derived from the company’s motorsport expertise. It produces 603 horsepower and 435 lb-ft of torque, sending power exclusively to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a twin-disc ceramic dry clutch.
The Carrera GT also features carbon-ceramic brakes with six-piston alloy calipers, reinforcing its reputation as one of the most engaging analog supercars ever produced. With only 3,471 miles recorded, the vehicle remains exceptionally well-preserved.
The one-of-a-kind Carrera GT is scheduled to cross the block as Lot S74 during the Mecum Monterey auction on August 15, 2026. Interest in low-mileage Carrera GT models has continued to grow in recent years, particularly for examples featuring rare specifications or bespoke finishes. While standard models frequently command between $2 million and $3.5 million, exceptionally unique cars have achieved prices exceeding $6 million, highlighting the enduring demand for one of Porsche’s most celebrated supercars.
