LinkedIn Adds AI Spam Reporting Feature to Tackle Feed Clutter
LinkedIn has launched a new reporting feature that allows users to flag posts they believe are dominated by low-quality, AI-generated content. The option, labeled “Seems like AI slop,” appears within the standard three-dot menu on posts and reflects the platform’s latest effort to improve content quality and promote authentic professional conversations.
The update comes as concerns continue to grow over the increasing volume of machine-generated posts, engagement bait, and automated interactions appearing across professional social networks.
New Tools Aim to Improve Content Authenticity
According to Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan, authentic human interaction remains central to LinkedIn’s long-term strategy. Alongside the new reporting option, the company is strengthening its automated detection systems to identify low-quality AI-generated content before it reaches users’ feeds.
LinkedIn says its moderation technology already blocks hundreds of thousands of automated comment attempts every day. Furthermore, its security systems have prevented billions of large-scale automated actions over recent months, highlighting the growing challenge posed by spam and bot-driven activity.
The platform is also revising some of its own artificial intelligence features. Rather than offering an AI tool that rewrites users’ posts, LinkedIn plans to replace it with a simpler proofreading feature focused on correcting spelling and grammar while preserving each author’s original writing style.
Additionally, creators will soon receive private notifications if multiple users report a post as appearing heavily AI-generated or inauthentic. The company expects this feedback system to encourage greater transparency while helping creators maintain trust with their audiences.
AI Detection Becomes a Bigger Priority
The latest changes follow research indicating that AI-generated content has become increasingly common on professional networking platforms. A recent analysis by AI detection firm Pangram found that 41% of long-form posts on LinkedIn appeared to be entirely machine-written.
By allowing users to report questionable content directly, LinkedIn aims to improve its AI detection models while adapting to rapidly evolving forms of automated content. At the same time, the company is expanding profile and business verification tools to strengthen confidence that accounts represent genuine individuals and organizations.
As generative AI becomes more deeply integrated into online publishing, social platforms face growing pressure to balance technological innovation with content authenticity. LinkedIn’s latest measures signal a broader industry shift toward encouraging responsible AI use while preserving meaningful human engagement across digital communities.
