Dubai Police Identify 10 AI Opportunities Set to Transform Policing by 2040

Dubai Police have identified 10 emerging artificial intelligence opportunities that could reshape law enforcement by 2040, including autonomous patrol systems, AI-powered criminal investigations and hybrid teams combining human expertise with artificial intelligence.

Developed by the Dubai Police Future Foresight Centre, the findings explore how intelligent technologies could support proactive security operations and deliver personalised public services.

The report highlights AI’s potential to help law enforcement agencies anticipate emerging risks and threats while transforming operational management, task allocation and decision-making across police organisations.

The Future Foresight Centre identified 10 opportunities for AI in policing: hyper-personalised services, AI agent swarms, proactive security sensing, AI-enhanced criminal investigations, physical AI, autonomous patrol systems, self-adaptive cybersecurity, cognitive operating models, hybrid human-AI teams and generative security simulation.

Brigadier Dr Hamdan Ahmad Al Ghassiya, an expert and Director of the Future Foresight Centre at Dubai Police, said artificial intelligence is expected to fundamentally transform the nature of policing by 2040.

He explained that intelligent systems could evolve beyond supporting police operations to performing complex security tasks with varying levels of autonomy while working alongside human personnel.
