Tesla Roadster Concept Showcases Rocket-Assisted Jumps and Aerial Stunts

Tesla has showcased what the supplied report describes as a flying second-generation Roadster, featuring rocket-assisted propulsion developed in collaboration with SpaceX. The demonstration reportedly showed the electric sports car clearing parked vehicles, launching from half-pipe ramps and manoeuvring upside down.

The concept combines electric performance with compressed-air thrusters designed to generate lift, stabilise jumps and cushion landings. According to the report, rear-facing thrusters could also provide additional acceleration, with a claimed 0–60 mph time of 0.81 seconds.

SpaceX Technology Shapes the Roadster Concept

The reported system uses rechargeable onboard air tanks to power thrusters positioned beneath and behind the vehicle. An integrated fan-based suction system is also described as helping maintain grip during inverted driving on vertical half-pipes.

However, these capabilities remain subject to independent verification, and the supplied material does not establish whether the demonstration represents a production-ready vehicle.

Aerospace Design and Advanced Controls

Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen reportedly shaped the Roadster’s exterior around an aerospace-inspired design. Features include angular bodywork, scissor doors and an active deployable rear spoiler.

Inside, the concept is described as featuring seats integrated into the structural chassis and an electronic steer-by-wire system without conventional mechanical steering linkages.

The report states that production is scheduled to begin in 2028. However, street legality remains unconfirmed, and the vehicle’s final production specifications have not been established in the supplied material.

If realised, the Roadster would represent an ambitious extension of Tesla’s electric performance strategy, combining high acceleration targets with experimental propulsion and vehicle-control technologies.
