Aridge Targets UAE Flying Car Operations Within 18 Months

Aridge is targeting commercial flying car operations in the UAE within the next 18 months as the company advances its plans to introduce its aircraft to the regional market. The Chinese flying car developer is working towards regulatory approvals and operational readiness to support its entry into the UAE’s advanced air mobility sector.

The company expects to begin flight testing in the UAE as early as 2027, subject to finalising arrangements for a regulatory sandbox in Ras Al Khaimah. The programme will allow the aircraft to be tested under controlled conditions while authorities develop operational procedures and safety requirements.

Aridge has partnered with Ras Al Khaimah authorities to establish a testing framework for advanced air mobility. The initiative will assess aircraft performance, airspace coordination and operational requirements, creating a pathway towards potential commercial services.

The company also plans to explore demonstration routes connecting emirates, including Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah. These trials are expected to evaluate flight planning, ground support, passenger handling and safety procedures required for future inter-emirate air mobility services.

Aridge’s modular Land Aircraft Carrier combines a ground vehicle with a detachable aircraft designed for short-distance flights. The company is also developing the A868, a larger aircraft designed to carry up to six people and support longer journeys.

The timeline for commercial operations will depend on regulatory approvals, testing outcomes and the development of the necessary operating framework. Aridge is positioning the UAE as a key market for its expansion into advanced air mobility.
