Porsche Explores $1.47 Million 911 as It Targets Ultra-Wealthy Buyers
Porsche is considering a new ultra-exclusive 911 model priced at $400,000 or more, equivalent to approximately AED 1.47 million, as the German automaker shifts towards higher-margin vehicles and bespoke customer offerings.
The strategy comes amid pressure from tariffs, rising electrification costs and intensifying competition in China. The company is seeking to strengthen profitability by prioritising low-volume, high-value models over reliance on broader sales volumes.
Porsche Targets High-End 911 Buyers
Porsche’s current entry-level 911 starts at just over $135,000, or approximately AED 496,000. A potential $400,000 flagship would represent a substantial increase, positioning it above previous high-end variants such as the 911 S/T, which launched at just under $300,000, equivalent to around AED 1.10 million.
According to Porsche product and individualisation vice president Alexander Fabig, future top-tier 911 models could command premiums of around 200% over the base model. Potential nameplates could include GT2 or Turbo GT, although the company has not confirmed the final specifications.
Porsche also expects its upcoming Mission S production supercar to contribute to its high-end product strategy.
Bespoke Models and Factory Restorations
The automaker is expanding its Sonderwunsch personalisation programme, which is developing 15 one-off projects reportedly priced between nearly AED 7.3 million and AED 55 million.
Porsche is also exploring “few-off” models, which occupy a space between limited-edition vehicles and fully bespoke commissions. The Flachbau RS, unveiled at Monterey, illustrates this approach.
Meanwhile, factory recommissioning work on the Carrera GT costs owners between approximately AED 1.84 million and AED 2.94 million per vehicle. Porsche has completed the process on 11 cars, with 16 underway and another 21 awaiting service.
Options Deliver Additional Revenue
Customer spending on vehicle customisation remains another source of revenue. Edmunds data cited in the report puts the average starting price of a new Porsche at $81,813, or around AED 300,000, rising to $128,663, or approximately AED 472,000, once configured.
That represents roughly AED 172,000 in additional spending per vehicle, highlighting the financial potential of options and personalisation as Porsche pursues a more exclusive market position.
